Reviewed the detection, the overlays, and the rendered output. Detection and the overlays are correct: compared with GCP G4, the Akamai render differs only in NCCL_P2P_LEVEL (PHB instead of SYS) and the missing nvidia.com/gpu toleration. LKE nodes of other architectures lose nothing by moving from onprem to akamai, because the onprem overrides and NIC detection only cover gb200, gb300, b200 and b300. pkg/catalog, pkg/platform, pkg/controller, pkg/certification, pkg/render, pkg/workloadrun and the workloadrun integration cases pass locally.
The CodeRabbit finding on akamai_test.go:34 can be dismissed. Go 1.27 accepts promoted fields in composite literals, pkg/controller/event_helpers_test.go:87 already uses Certification{Name: ...}, and the test compiles and passes.
Inline comments cover the default test size and the P2P level. Three more items are outside the diff:
- ADR. Every earlier platform onboarding has one (Mistral ADR-058, Azure ADR-060, Nscale ADR-085, OCI ADR-088), and the development workflow in AGENTS.md requires one for a change like this. It would also be the natural home for the P2P and test-size decisions below.
- CLI reference. The
--platformvalue lists indocs/cli-reference/certification.md:93anddocs/cli-reference/workloadrun.md:72don't includeakamai. gpu-defaults.yaml:56. Thertxpro6000comment still describes only G4 shapes ("G4 supports multiple sizes"), but that default now applies to Akamai too.
The workflow render --platform akamai gap is filed separately as #538.

Thanks, 0ca35a4 covers everything from my review. I re-ran the affected packages and the Two follow-ups: ADR number. Two other open PRs already use ADR-101: #533 ( Intra-node traffic on multi-GPU WorkloadRuns. WorkloadRuns always get |
ADR-101 is taken by NVIDIA#510, NVIDIA#533 and NVIDIA#537, and 102 by NVIDIA#539. Build on NVIDIA#510's networkAttachments rather than deferring an override field: detection runs only when the resolved options set no list, and the failure messages name the list as the fix. From review: - A single match in the workload namespace wins outright; the equivalence rule applies only to candidates elsewhere, so a site under namespaceIsolation can add its own NAD. State that the workload namespace is the Certification's. - Only zero matches, differing matches, Forbidden and NoMatch are terminal. Other list errors requeue through retryableCreateError. - No default in the catalog loader: every caller sets the name, and Build fails when it is empty with NICs requested. - --dry-run warns on Forbidden, since it lists with the user's kubeconfig rather than the controller's service account. - Name networkAttachments and rdmaDeviceAccess: hostPath in the zero-match message, say that an empty spec.config is never equivalent, and hint at deleting a hand-made sriov-net copy. - Correct the globalNamespaces note: default is implicit only while globalNamespaces is unset. - List every place that names sriov-net as fact, and clarify the wrong-key test case. This looks good to me. The Akamai registration, the linode:// detection and the TCP overlays hang together, and I like that the bounded NCCL sizes are documented as something the user sets explicitly rather than quietly changing the generic defaults.
One thing to pick up: README.md:15 still reads "Platform detection (AWS, GCP, Azure, OCI, nscale, TogetherAI, Mistral, Forge, on-prem)" with no Akamai. You updated docs/cli-reference/certification.md:93, docs/cli-reference/workloadrun.md:72 and the render-platform-flag/unknown-platform golden, so that README line is the odd one out on the front page. Worth adding Akamai there.
Signed-off-by: Kayne Tu <[email protected]> #537 added a relative ../designs/ link to ADR-101 in platform-detection.md, which renders as Page Not Found on the docs site. TestPublishedPagesLinkOnlyToPublishedPages caught it once main was merged into this branch.
Review follow-ups for NVIDIA#510 (ndipebot). Ordering: a WorkloadRun's platform overrides are not applied when the Workflow spec is built. They travel in spec.overrides and the Workflow controller applies them later, replacing scalars, so Azure's nvidia.com/mlnxnics: 8 replaced 8 plus one networkAttachments entry and the run asked for 8. The new platform.ApplyNetworkAttachmentsToOverrides raises every platform override patch that already requests one of the listed resources by the same count, and writes the networks annotation into any patch that sets one. It runs after BuildOverrides in both the controller and BuildWorkflowSpec, together with the runtime write that moves there too. Azure H100 plus one mlnxnics entry now requests 9 on workloadrun render, the WorkloadRun controller and certification render. The user's spec.overrides are appended untouched and still win. Tests: - render-network-attachments (azure, togetherai), workloadrun-network-attachments/azure-h100-same-resource-adds and certification-render-network-attachments/azure-h100-same-resource-adds pin the 9, plus TestApplyNetworkAttachmentsToOverrides. - read-workloadrun error cases: upper-case network, a kubernetes.io/ resource, 17 entries, an empty list, and a list with nicResourceName. - reconcile/certification-network-attachments-merged-hostpath: a category list merged with a spec-level rdmaDeviceAccess: hostPath fails the whole Certification with WorkflowValidationFailed and creates no Workflow. - TestNewRunCommandValidation: --cert-file with --network-attachments, --multus-networks, --extended-resources, and the pair. - certification-render-network-attachments/onprem-b300-skips-nic-detection and TestApplyWRNICDetection pin the NIC-detection skip for an explicit list. The WorkloadRun dry-run gate moves into applyWRNICDetection. ADR-104 Decision 3 now says a conflict fails the whole Certification, and Decision 6 describes the override handling. The #TBD placeholders are gone. Two goldens from this PR are refreshed for main: the build-workflow-spec mpi-network-attachments override count (Akamai's override from NVIDIA#537) and the certification-onprem-b300-multirail worker sshd script (NVIDIA#528). Brings in ADR-102 (NVIDIA#539), the Akamai overlays (NVIDIA#537) and the README platform list (NVIDIA#550). captureFailureLog keeps main's podread.JobPods for the workers and puts the launchers ahead of them. Signed-off-by: Anpoo Sivanadi <[email protected]>
NVIDIA#537 merged its own ADR-101 (Akamai RTX PRO 6000 TCP overrides), and 102 through 104 are taken or claimed, so this branch's ADR moves to 105. Every reference moves with it; the two remaining ADR-101 references are the Akamai ones. Signed-off-by: Kang Zhang <[email protected]>
…tion goldens The render annotation goldens pinned each applied override's index, which is its position in the catalog entry's overrides list. Inserting any block above it in pkg/catalog/entries/communication/nccl-all-reduce.yaml shifts the ordinal, so the goldens broke without any change to this code: after main brought in NVIDIA#537's Akamai block, nscale-gpu-arch-flag wanted 18 and got 19, failing Test on the PR head. The projection now records only when, patches and noOp, which still identify the blocks that matched. The four affected goldens change only by losing their index lines. The docs also said an offline render without --platform detects onprem. That holds for a plain nodeSelector, but syntheticRenderNode copies the whole selector onto the synthetic node, so a Forge marker (nke.nvidia.com/site-name, or a hostname containing forge) detects as forge instead, and --platform onprem does not change it because its synthetic providerID is empty. That precedence predates this change. The sentence is hedged in docs/cli-reference/certification.md, docs/concepts/platform-detection.md, CLAUDE.md/AGENTS.md and the resolveWorkflowsOffline comment; matching behaviour is unchanged. Signed-off-by: Kang Zhang <[email protected]>
* docs: link ADRs by GitHub URL so they resolve on the docs site docs/designs/ is not in the Fern nav (ADR-074 and ADR-088 both record that), so a relative link such as ../designs/092-....md renders as a link to Fern's "Page Not Found" page, which answers HTTP 200. Eighteen such links across thirteen pages broke this way at v0.8.0. #256 already moved the first-certification and goodput ADR links to GitHub URLs for the same reason; this does the same for the rest. Neither `fern check` nor `fern docs broken-links` notices: the latter passes on the unfixed pages. TestPublishedPagesLinkOnlyToPublishedPages in test/docspolicy now requires every relative link on a page in docs/index.yml to resolve to another page in the nav, and every github.com/NVIDIA/cluster-readiness-engine/{blob,tree}/main link to name a path that exists, so a typo cannot trade the soft 404 for a hard one. TestBrokenLinksCatchesWhatFernMisses pins the checker, including that link syntax inside code spans and fences is ignored. The rule is also written down where each reader looks for it, so a contributor or an agent learns it before the test fails on their PR: CLAUDE.md and AGENTS.md next to the existing Fern site guidance, a Writing Documentation section in CONTRIBUTING.md, and the conventions list in the ADR index. Published v0.7.0 and v0.8.0 are built from their tags by hack/fern-freeze-versions.sh, so they keep their broken links (7 and 18) until the freeze script rewrites them; that is left for later. Signed-off-by: Kayne Tu <[email protected]> * test(docspolicy): follow CommonMark fence and code span rules stripCode closed a fence on any three-character marker, so a ~~~ line inside a ~~~~ block ended it early and the links after it were checked as prose. A fence now closes only on a run of its own marker at least as long as the opener, with nothing after it but whitespace. Code spans were stripped a line at a time, so a span that crossed a line ending was read as an unclosed backtick and a link inside it was reported as broken. Spans are now stripped a paragraph at a time; a blank line still ends an unclosed span. Line endings inside a removed span are kept so reference definitions stay line-anchored. Signed-off-by: Kayne Tu <[email protected]> * test(docspolicy): ignore indented fences and escaped backticks A fence marker indented four or more spaces is indented code, not a fence, but stripCode opened and closed fences at any indent, so such a line could hide the links that followed it. Both the opening and the closing fence now need at most three spaces of indent. A backslash-escaped backtick is literal, but stripCodeSpans opened a code span at it and dropped the links up to the next backtick. A backtick preceded by an odd number of backslashes no longer opens a span. Signed-off-by: Kayne Tu <[email protected]> * test(docspolicy): check links with any title form and HTML anchors inlineLink matched only a double-quoted title and no padding inside the parentheses, so a broken link written with a single-quoted or parenthesized title, or with whitespace around its destination, was never checked. Raw HTML anchors were not matched at all. Fern renders all of these as links. inlineLink now captures only the destination, the first token after `](` or a `<...>` destination, and ignores what follows, so a title in any form, or a form not listed here, cannot make the link invisible. htmlLink adds `<a href>` in either quote style. Each form has a broken case; the titled case that pointed at a nav page, and so passed with or without title handling, now sits beside off-nav cases that do pin it. Also correct the doc comment: v0.7.0 shipped seven such links, not three. Three was the distinct-ADR count. Signed-off-by: Kayne Tu <[email protected]> * docs: link ADR-101 by GitHub URL Signed-off-by: Kayne Tu <[email protected]> #537 added a relative ../designs/ link to ADR-101 in platform-detection.md, which renders as Page Not Found on the docs site. TestPublishedPagesLinkOnlyToPublishedPages caught it once main was merged into this branch. * test(docspolicy): check unquoted href, HTML images, and image files htmlLink matched only a quoted href, so <a href=../designs/x.md> was never checked, and <img src> was not matched at all. htmlAttr now takes an anchor's href or an image's src, quoted either way or unquoted. Images had the opposite problem. Every relative target had to be a nav page, so a Markdown image of a file that does exist under docs/, which Fern uploads with the page, would have been reported broken. No page uses one yet. A relative image, Markdown or HTML, now has to name a file under docs/ instead; a link to that same file still has to be a page. Signed-off-by: Kayne Tu <[email protected]> * test(docspolicy): match only a real href or src attribute htmlAttr found the attribute name after a word boundary, which a hyphen also gives, so in <a data-href="..." href="..."> it read data-href and never checked the real href. It also accepted src on an anchor and href on an image, so an anchor's src could stand in for its href. The attribute name must now follow whitespace, and each tag is paired with its own attribute in the pattern, so a non-matching attribute is skipped over rather than consumed. Signed-off-by: Kayne Tu <[email protected]> * docs: link ADR-102 by GitHub URL Signed-off-by: Kayne Tu <[email protected]> #539 added relative ../designs/ links to ADR-102 in deployment.md and metrics.md, which render as Page Not Found on the docs site. TestPublishedPagesLinkOnlyToPublishedPages caught them once main was merged into this branch. --------- Signed-off-by: Kayne Tu <[email protected]>
… render (#532) * fix(certification): write render annotations in offline certification render Offline "nvcrectl certification render" (no --dry-run) resolved overrides against its synthetic node but discarded the result, so the rendered Workflows carried none of the nvcrectl.nvidia.com/ annotations (detected-platform, detected-gpu-architecture, applied-overrides). The --dry-run path and "nvcrectl workflow render", offline included, have always written them, and CLAUDE.md/AGENTS.md and ADR-075's testing plan tell readers to check them in offline render output. No ADR, doc or commit gives a reason for leaving them out; the discard dates to the initial commit. resolveWorkflowsOffline now passes the resolve metadata to render.SetRenderAnnotations. The values come from the synthetic node, so they record what override matching actually saw. That makes visible a case the output used to hide: without --platform the synthetic node has no providerID, detects as onprem, and the on-prem overrides apply, so the render is identical to --platform onprem. The annotations are informational. The controller never reads them, and no existing golden captures certification render stdout, so no existing test output changes. TestCertificationRenderAnnotations pins the three annotations through resolveWorkflowsOffline for AWS GB200 (two categories), AWS L20, GB300 without --platform (onprem), Nscale with --gpu-arch and no product label, and on-prem H100, where nothing matches and applied-overrides is omitted. The docs now name certification render beside workflow render, and CLAUDE.md/AGENTS.md note the onprem default. Signed-off-by: Kang Zhang <[email protected]> * test(certification): drop catalog override indices from render annotation goldens The render annotation goldens pinned each applied override's index, which is its position in the catalog entry's overrides list. Inserting any block above it in pkg/catalog/entries/communication/nccl-all-reduce.yaml shifts the ordinal, so the goldens broke without any change to this code: after main brought in #537's Akamai block, nscale-gpu-arch-flag wanted 18 and got 19, failing Test on the PR head. …ended resources (#510) * feat(api): add networkAttachments for Multus networks paired with extended resources Add networkAttachments ([]{network, resourceName, count}) to CategoryOptions and WorkloadRunSpec so a site with one extended resource and one NetworkAttachmentDefinition per rail (for example Spectrum-X RoCE) can attach the workers to its east-west fabric. Each entry adds its network to the worker pod's k8s.v1.cni.cncf.io/networks annotation in list order and requests count units (default 1) of its resourceName on the worker container, so the n-th network pairs with the n-th resource. The MPI launcher gets neither. The list owns the NIC wiring: it is mutually exclusive with nicResourceName, skips NIC auto-detection, and on OCI replaces the default sriov-net attachments and their mlnxnics request. CEL rules enforce the entry patterns, a 16-entry cap, and the exclusions with nicResourceName, rdmaDeviceAccess: hostPath and mlnxPerNode: 0; readCertification and readWorkloadRun mirror them offline. nvcrectl certification run gains --network-attachments network=resource[:count],... and the zipped --multus-networks / --extended-resources pair, which errors on a length mismatch. categoryOptionsSuffix gains a -net<N>-<hash8> token so categories that differ only in their attachments get distinct Workflows; it defers to #430. Design in ADR-101. Fixes #400 Signed-off-by: Anpoo Sivanadi <[email protected]> * fix(api): drop networkAttachments count; one entry is one interface Review on #510 (kaynetu): an entry attaches one interface, so count > 1 reserved devices that nothing wires. A second interface on a network is a second entry, and entries that share a resourceName already add up. Remove NetworkAttachment.count and EffectiveCount(). Each entry now requests one unit of its resourceName. --network-attachments takes network=resource entries and rejects the old network=resource:count form with a pointer to repeating the entry. The Workflow name token hashes the (network, resourceName) pairs in list order, so the goldens that carry a net token get new names. Signed-off-by: Anpoo Sivanadi <[email protected]> * fix(api): allow mlnxPerNode: 0 with networkAttachments; scope the NIC replacement to OCI Review on #510 (kaynetu): "the list owns the NIC wiring" only held on OCI. Azure, TogetherAI and Forge still render nvidia.com/mlnxnics next to the attachments, nscale renders its rdma claim, and the mlnxPerNode: 0 rule blocked the one setting that drops those requests. Keep the OCI gate (sriov-net is itself a Multus default, so the list replaces it) and do not gate the other platforms: they reach their InfiniBand fabric through those device-plugin or DRA requests and their NCCL environment names the HCAs, so dropping the request whenever a list is set would break the run. Instead remove the mlnxPerNode: 0 CEL rule from CategoryOptions and WorkloadRunSpec and from the offline mirrors, so a user who wants only the listed networks sets mlnxPerNode: 0 as on any other run (ADR-087). Tests: the two error cases become a WorkloadRun admission case that is accepted, and two TogetherAI H100 render goldens pin the request kept beside the list and dropped by mlnxPerNode: 0. Signed-off-by: Anpoo Sivanadi <[email protected]> * fix(controller): check networkAttachments exclusions on the merged options Review on #510 (kaynetu): the CRD rules and readCertification read one options block at a time, so rdmaDeviceAccess: hostPath at the spec level and a list in a category (or the reverse) passed both and rendered a privileged pod with the /dev/infiniband mount and the attachment. Add controller.CheckResolvedNetworkAttachments and call it on each category's ResolveOptions result in createWorkflowForCategory and in renderCertification. The category fails (WorkflowValidationFailed on the controller, an error from render) with the way out in the message: devicePlugin in a category that inherits hostPath with a list, or nicResourceName in a category that inherits the list and needs hostPath. hostPath is not cleared in ResolveOptions the way nicResourceName is, because it changes how every container reaches the RDMA devices and dropping it silently would run a configuration nobody asked for. Tests: a controller golden for both directions and the two ways out, and two render-error goldens, one of them the review's exact spec. Signed-off-by: Anpoo Sivanadi <[email protected]> * fix(controller): add a nic token to the Workflow name when a category sets nicResourceName Review on #510 (kaynetu): a category's nicResourceName replaces a spec-level networkAttachments list, so a category with no options (which inherits the list) and one that sets only nicResourceName attach to different fabrics but both rendered as c3-communication-nccl-all-4092a, and the second would have adopted the first's Workflow. categoryOptionsSuffix now adds nic<hash8> (SHA-256 of the resource name, hashed like env since the name carries a slash) whenever a category sets nicResourceName. This also separates two categories that name different NIC resources, which collided before this PR too. Categories that already set nicResourceName get a new Workflow name. An in-flight category is unaffected, since its Workflow is found through the recorded workflowRef; the renamed goldens are the two per-category NIC render cases and the certification-onprem-gb300-nccl reconcile case. Tests: a controller golden with the review's spec plus a third category on a different resource. Signed-off-by: Anpoo Sivanadi <[email protected]> * docs(workloadrun): state that spec.overrides apply after networkAttachments; add the missing tests Review on #510 (kaynetu): the WorkloadRun comment said nothing later competes with the attachments, but the user's spec.overrides are applied when the Workflow reconciles, after the attachments, so an override that sets k8s.v1.cni.cncf.io/networks wins there while Certification's list is final. Keep that order and document it. spec.overrides is the last word on every other WorkloadRun field too, so making the list the one exception would be the surprise; Certification has no user overrides, which is the whole of the difference. Narrow the controller comment to platform overrides, say the same in pkg/workloadrun, and add it to the API reference. Tests the review asked for: - pkg/controller: a golden for the WorkloadRun controller path (buildWorkflowSpecWithWarning plus the Workflow's override pass): NIC detection skipped on an on-prem B300 that would otherwise pick rdma/ib, Azure's mlnxnics request kept beside the list and dropped by mlnxPerNode: 0, and a user override replacing the networks annotation. - pkg/platform: a golden for ApplyNetworkAttachmentsToDependencies: the catalog annotation replaced with siblings kept, entries on one resource adding up, the launcher untouched, the worker container by name else the first, and byte-for-byte pass-through for an empty list and a non-TrainingRuntime. Signed-off-by: Anpoo Sivanadi <[email protected]> * docs(adr-101): correct how Multus matches networks to resources; record the gaps Review on #510 (kaynetu): the ADR and the API comments said the n-th network is wired to a device of the n-th requested resource. Multus does not pair by position: each NetworkAttachmentDefinition names its resource in k8s.v1.cni.cncf.io/resourceName, Multus takes the device allocated for that resource, and resources.limits keeps no order. What has to hold is that every attached network's resource is requested often enough. Restate that in the ADR context, the NetworkAttachment and field doc comments, the API and CLI references and the flag help, and say that an entry's resourceName must be the resource its NAD declares. Order still decides which network becomes net1..netN, which is why the name token hashes in list order; the rationale now says so. The ADR also gains: - "derive the resources from the NADs" as a considered alternative, rejected for now for the NAD RBAC, the Multus CRD dependency and offline render, with a compatible follow-up noted; - "gate every platform's NIC fragment" as a rejected alternative; - decision 3 scoped to OCI, the merged-options check, the nic name token and WorkloadRun override precedence, matching the code; - known gaps under Consequences: a wrong resourceName is not caught, transport fallback to NET/Socket can still pass, and a resource no node advertises leaves the pods Pending until the timeout. Signed-off-by: Anpoo Sivanadi <[email protected]> * fix(platform): add networkAttachments to a platform-rendered resource request applyNetworkAttachmentsToJob wrote each resource's attachment count over the worker's limits and requests, so on a platform that already renders the same resource (nvidia.com/mlnxnics: 8 on TogetherAI or Azure) one entry on it shrank the request to 1. ADR-101 says the list adds to that request. The count is now added to the quantity already rendered: the limit when set, else the request, written to both so they stay equal. A quantity that cannot be parsed fails the call and leaves the dependency as it was. Where nothing was rendered for the resource, as on OCI with a list (the default mlnxnics fragment is gated off) or with mlnxPerNode: 0, the entries' count is the whole request, as before. The one helper serves the Certification transform stage and both WorkloadRun paths. New pkg/platform goldens cover 8 plus one entry (9), the same resource twice on top of 8 (10), a limit-only request and no platform request (1); a unit test covers the quantity forms; render goldens pin TogetherAI H100 (9) and OCI L40S (1) on nvidia.com/mlnxnics. ADR-101 and the API references state the addition. Reported by CodeRabbit on #510. Signed-off-by: Anpoo Sivanadi <[email protected]> * docs(adr-104): renumber the network attachments ADR, say NIC entries add up, name the Certification-level failure ADR-101 went to the Akamai ADR (101-akamai-rtxpro6000-tcp) on main, and open PRs claim 102 (#539) and 103 (#543). The network attachments ADR moves to the next free number, 104: docs/designs/104-network-attachments.md, its README row, and the ADR links in the Certification and WorkloadRun API references. Follow-ups from the #510 approval: - Decision 2 and the networkAttachments API docs say outright that entries add to a NIC request the platform already rendered, so a site whose Multus networks are the platform's own NICs sets mlnxPerNode: 0 to request only the listed entries (two entries on nvidia.com/mlnxnics on TogetherAI otherwise request 10). - Decision 3, the API docs and the CheckResolvedNetworkAttachments comment say that a hostPath conflict found on a category's merged options fails the whole Certification as WorkflowValidationFailed, naming the category, not the category alone. - The ADR's known-gaps list marks where the transport-fallback (#TBD1) and allocatable (#TBD2) follow-up issues will be linked. CRDs regenerated with make manifests. Signed-off-by: Anpoo Sivanadi <[email protected]> * fix(platform): add networkAttachments to platform override requests Review follow-ups for #510 (ndipebot). Two goldens from this PR are refreshed for main: the build-workflow-spec mpi-network-attachments override count (Akamai's override from #537) and the certification-onprem-b300-multirail worker sshd script (#528). Signed-off-by: Anpoo Sivanadi <[email protected]> * fix(platform): pick the override worker container as the runtime path does applyNetworkAttachmentsToPatchJob matched the worker container only by the exact name "node", while the runtime path falls back to the first container. A platform override on a replicatedJob without a "node" container could then keep its own count on the same container the runtime had raised. Both paths now go through workerContainer, which also returns nil for an empty list. Reword the "compute every sum before writing any" comments: the annotation or the resources maps may already be touched on error, and what keeps the dependency intact is that the caller returns before re-marshalling. Add the override case worker-container-by-name-else-first, and say in ADR-104 that the override path picks the worker as the render step does. …etection (#543) * docs(designs): add ADR-101 for OCI RDMA NetworkAttachmentDefinition detection Proposes resolving the secondary network the OCI RDMA fragment attaches from the cluster, instead of rendering a hard-coded network-operator/sriov-net. On OCI with mlnxPerNode > 0, the Certification controller lists NetworkAttachmentDefinitions and keeps those annotated k8s.v1.cni.cncf.io/resourceName: nvidia.com/mlnxnics. One match is used. Several equivalent matches are picked deterministically with a Normal event. Several that differ, zero matches, or a list error fail the Certification with SecondaryNetworkDetectionFailed before any workload is created. Offline render keeps network-operator/sriov-net as a named default and says so on stderr. --dry-run runs the controller's resolution. The manager gains get and list on network-attachment-definitions, read uncached. No API change. Refs #542 Signed-off-by: Marcus Sorensen <[email protected]> * docs(designs): state ADR-101's motivation without naming an unreleased recipe The hard-coded network-operator/sriov-net fits a Network Operator install using the SR-IOV CNI in the network-operator namespace. Say so, and give the layouts it does not fit in general terms: AICR installs the Network Operator into nvidia-network-operator, and OCI GB300 with NICs in switchdev mode needs a host-device NAD under whatever name the platform chose. Drop the reference to a recipe that has not shipped. Refs #542 Signed-off-by: Marcus Sorensen <[email protected]> * docs(designs): renumber to ADR-103 and build it on networkAttachments ADR-101 is taken by #510, #533 and #537, and 102 by #539. Build on #510's networkAttachments rather than deferring an override field: detection runs only when the resolved options set no list, and the failure messages name the list as the fix. Refs #542 Signed-off-by: Marcus Sorensen <[email protected]> * docs(designs): apply ADR-103 resolution rules to the candidate set Define the candidates as the matches in the workload namespace if there are any, otherwise all matches, and state the one, equivalent, differ and zero rules over them. This covers several equivalent NADs in the workload namespace, which the previous table left without a pick. Signed-off-by: Marcus Sorensen <[email protected]> * docs(designs): gate ADR-103 detection on the rendered Workflow Detection was gated on an OCI target with mlnxPerNode > 0, which is not when oci-mlnxnics-comm.yaml renders. dcgm-level4 never includes the fragment, and the nemotron entries include it only in their L40S/L40, GB200 and GB300 blocks, while OCI resolves mlnxPerNode above 0 for H100, A100, B200, B300, H200, L40S, L40 and GB300. Those categories would have failed over a network they never reference. Build first with a sentinel network name, and detect only when the sentinel survives overlay application; then build again with the detected name. A sentinel left before Create is an ordinary error. Add the gate matrix and the no-attachment cases to the testing plan. Cite #510 instead of ADR-101: ADR-101 on main is the Akamai RTX PRO 6000 record, so #510's ADR will merge under another number. Signed-off-by: Marcus Sorensen <[email protected]> * docs(designs): cite ADR-104 in ADR-103 now that #510 has merged #510 merged as ADR-104, so cite it by number and describe this change as building on its files on main rather than landing after it. …33 (ADR-105) (#533) * fix(api): install the Certification CRD on Kubernetes 1.29 through 1.33 (ADR-101) Every release so far ships a Certification CRD that API servers 1.29 to 1.33 refuse ("estimated rule cost exceeds budget"), so `nvcrectl setup init` stops at "[helm] apply CRD certifications.nvcre.nvidia.com" although the install guide says 1.29+. Through 1.33 the API server costs any CEL rule on an int-or-string value (resource.Quantity) as a 3 MiB string whatever its maxLength; 1.34 began honouring maxLength, which is why CI, on envtest 1.36, never noticed. The four quantity() rules added in #232 sit under categories (maxItems 64) and exceed the per-rule and per-schema budgets. Lowering maxLength does nothing there, and the request/limit rule fits only at maxItems <= 7. So no CEL rule reads a quantity any more: - cpu and memory carry a Pattern instead: a non-negative quantity whose exponent is a whole number, so a negative, malformed or unparseable string such as "1e1.5" is still rejected at admission. Schemaless keeps controller-gen from also emitting its looser Quantity pattern in an allOf, which would report every bad value twice. - ValidateCertificationResources rejects a request above its limit and a negative quantity. The controller runs it before creating any Workflow and fails the Certification with reason InvalidResources; nvcrectl runs it when reading a certification file. Validation cases can now be submitted as written (input_raw.yaml), since the typed decode of input.yaml turns a bare integer into a string and refuses an unparseable quantity before it reaches the API server. To keep this from recurring, `make test-crd-compat` installs every chart CRD on each Kubernetes minor from MIN_K8S_VERSION (1.29) up to the envtest version, and a new CI job runs it. On the old CRD it fails on exactly 1.29-1.33. A test also keeps the install guide's minimum equal to MIN_K8S_VERSION. Signed-off-by: Kang Zhang <[email protected]> * fix(api): cap the quantity exponent at two digits A whole-number exponent still left room, within maxLength 32, for values that resource.ParseQuantity mishandles: past int64 it refuses the exponent, past int32 it wraps it to a different value (1e4294967297 decodes as 10), and a large negative one decodes slowly (1e-9999999 takes 1.1 s). One Certification that fails to decode breaks every typed List of Certifications in its namespace, including the controller's informer and nvcrectl's run-namespace RoleBinding cleanup. Two digits allow 1e99 and 1e-99, far beyond any CPU or memory value. New raw validation cases pin the boundary: 1e99 and 1e-99 are accepted, and 1e100 and 1e9999999999999999999 are rejected. Signed-off-by: Kang Zhang <[email protected]> * docs(designs): renumber the CRD compatibility ADR to 105 #537 merged its own ADR-101 (Akamai RTX PRO 6000 TCP overrides), and 102 through 104 are taken or claimed, so this branch's ADR moves to 105. Every reference moves with it; the two remaining ADR-101 references are the Akamai ones. Signed-off-by: Kang Zhang <[email protected]> * fix: address review follow-ups on the CRD compatibility change - test-crd-compat fails if MIN_K8S_VERSION or ENVTEST_K8S_VERSION does not yield a minor, or if the range is empty. Before, `seq` produced nothing and the target exited 0 having tested nothing. - ValidateCertificationResources reports at most ten violations and counts the rest. The message becomes the Failed condition message, capped at 32768 bytes; 64 categories with six violations each would overrun it and leave the status unwritable. - New render-error cases pin the cap (twelve violations) and the comparison boundary (a request equal to its limit renders). - Comments no longer overclaim. ParseQuantity rounds a value below 1n up to 1n, so the pattern guarantees a fast, successful decode, not an exact one; and loader.go no longer says the CRD rejects an inverted pair. - CONTRIBUTING.md documents CRD Compatibility and make test-crd-compat. - validationInput fails when a case has both input.yaml and input_raw.yaml, and the integer case is renamed to -inverted, which is what it checks. Signed-off-by: Kang Zhang <[email protected]> * docs: link ADR-105 from the catalog page by URL ADRs are not pages in docs/index.yml, so Fern renders a relative link to one as Page Not Found, and test/docspolicy (nav_links_test.go, now on main) rejects it. Link it by its GitHub URL, as the other docs pages link ADRs. Signed-off-by: Kang Zhang <[email protected]> * docs: cover the CRDs chart in ADR-105 and the install guide After ADR-107 the CRDs ship in two charts: the main chart's crds subchart and the cluster-readiness-engine-crds chart. ADR-105 named the old crds/ directory. It now says the check reads the subchart, and that test/helm keeps the CRDs chart's copies identical to it. The install guide notes that a helm install of either chart fails the same way on 1.29 through 1.33 for releases before this fix. ADR-105 also records that, on Helm 4, CRDs-chart users whose CRDs nvcrectl or kubectl server-side-applied need --force-conflicts for this first Certification schema change since that chart was published. Signed-off-by: Kang Zhang <[email protected]> * docs: correct ADR-105's rule and release references - The categories MaxItems comment, which is also the CRD field description, and ADR-105 decision 5 named the env and label rules as the ones the bound protects. The networkAttachments rules from #510 are the first to exceed the budget, because they sit under a second list. The numbers still hold: the CRD installs at maxItems 1024 on 1.29 and 1.33 and is refused at 2048. - The Helm 4 --force-conflicts rule is ADR-107 decision 6, not 5. - Only v0.9.0 published the cluster-readiness-engine-crds chart, not every earlier release. eth0, disable InfiniBand and the external network plugin, and setNCCL_P2P_DISABLE=1for unqualified multi-GPU VMs. Keep the architecture default of eight GPUs; one-GPU development VMs require explicitgpusPerNode: 1. The inspected LKE GPU nodes are untainted and expose standard GPU resources, so no RDMA resource requests or additional GPU taint tolerations are added.Akamai TCP users must explicitly set
