Summary

Prepare the first stable release of React Anchored Layer while preserving its positioning-only API and existing documentation-site design.

  • Stabilize composed refs and support React 19 callback cleanup without React 18 warnings.
  • Reject fragment anchors, keep SSR free of layout-effect warnings, and hide stale positions after anchor replacement.
  • Preserve anchor direction across portals and align geometry metadata with effective content direction, including automatic and CSS-defined direction.
  • Verify the installed package with React 18.3 and 19, ESM/CommonJS, CSS exports, and strict TypeScript consumers.
  • Document the API, responsibilities and compatibility limits; update stable installation guidance and remove the vulnerable lockfile entry.
  • Stage releases only from verified current main through the protected npm environment, with provenance and validation of the exact retained tarball.

Verification

Clean npm configuration:

npm run check
npm run test:e2e
npm run test:website:e2e
npm audit

All passed: 49 unit tests, 3 API/CSS checks, 14 installed-consumer checks, 16 release/workflow/artifact tests, 21 browser tests across Chromium/Firefox/WebKit, and 5 website/accessibility tests. Audit reports zero vulnerabilities. Existing gzip and package-size budgets remain unchanged.

No physical-device or manual assistive-technology sessions were performed.

Merging does not publish the package. Publication uses the manual protected staging workflow, exact-artifact inspection, and npm's approval boundary before creating the stable tag and GitHub release.
