NeonType ⚡

NeonType isn't a SaaS. It isn't a startup product. It's a vibe-coded drop for people who want to master touch-typing without the bloat.

I needed a specific kind of trainer—one that focused on rhythm, precision, and aesthetic—so I vibe-coded this into existence. It lives entirely in a single HTML file. No build steps, no servers, just pure typing flow.

🔮 The Vibe

This project was built with a specific philosophy: Code as a medium for flow.
It was generated through an iterative "vibe coding" process, refining prompt by prompt until the feel was exactly right.

⚡ Features

Everything you need to hit 100 WPM, nothing you don't.

  • Single File Architecture: The entire app (HTML, CSS, JS) is in one file. Zero dependencies.

  • Drill Modes:

    • ✋ Reposition Drill: Forces a pause after every word to reset your hands to the home row.
    • 👁️ Staccato Mode: Hides upcoming characters to prevent looking ahead and force instant processing.
    • 💀 Sudden Death: One mistake and the session ends. Perfection or nothing.
  • Rhythm Training: Built-in Metronome to lock in your cadence.

  • Audio Feedback: Satisfying mechanical switch sounds (generated via Web Audio API).

  • Visual Feedback:

    • Real-time virtual keyboard with error heatmaps.
    • Sticky error tracking (keys turn red and stay red if you miss them).
  • Theming: Switch between Slate (Default), Matrix (Hacker), Coffee (Cozy), and Light (High Contrast).

  • Custom Content: Paste your own code snippets or articles to practice.

🚀 How to Run

  1. Download neontype.html.
  2. Open it in any web browser.
  3. Start typing.

That's it.

🛠️ Tech Stack

  • HTML5
  • Tailwind CSS (via CDN)
  • Vanilla JavaScript
  • FontAwesome (for icons)

🧠 Vibe Coding

This project is an artifact of human intent + AI execution. It stands as an example of how software can be spun up purely to solve a personal need, bypassing the traditional software development lifecycle.
