└── README.md
- Cross-platform client: Windows, macOS, Linux
- Self-hosted relay (hbbs + hbbr) — no dependency on the public RustDesk infrastructure
- TeamViewer-style UI redesign (large ID/password panel, partner list, session tabs)
- Mouse, keyboard, clipboard sync, file transfer (already implemented upstream)
Pre-built Windows (x64) binaries are published on the Releases page.
Download the zip, extract it, and run OrdinalDesk.exe.
Windows releases are distributed as an unpacked Flutter release folder inside a zip, not as a self-extracting portable installer. This avoids the extra packer executable, which is a common source of antivirus false positives for remote desktop tools. Code signing is still required for the best SmartScreen/Defender reputation.
The full toolchain and step-by-step notes live in docs/WORKLOG.md. In short, the Windows
client needs Rust 1.75, Flutter 3.38.5, and vcpkg (libvpx libyuv opus aom, x64-windows-static):
# from ordinaldesk/
$env:VCPKG_ROOT = "C:\vcpkg"
flutter_rust_bridge_codegen --rust-input ./src/flutter_ffi.rs `
--dart-output ./flutter/lib/generated_bridge.dart `
--c-output ./flutter/macos/Runner/bridge_generated.h
cargo build --features flutter --lib --release # -> target/release/librustdesk.dll
cd flutter; flutter build windows --release # -> build/windows/x64/runner/Release/OrdinalDesk.exe
cd ../..; powershell -ExecutionPolicy Bypass -File scripts/package_windows_release.ps1OrdinalDesk inherits AGPL-3.0 from RustDesk. Any distribution — including operating a public-facing relay — triggers the AGPL source-disclosure obligations.
For internal/business use without external distribution, AGPL imposes no additional cost.
Both upstreams were added with git subtree --squash. To pull updates:
git subtree pull --prefix=ordinaldesk rustdesk-upstream master --squash
git subtree pull --prefix=server rustdesk-server master --squashThe Windows (x64) client builds, runs, and installs as a service. macOS arm64 also builds (see
docs/WORKLOG.md). The relay still points at the upstream rs-ny.rustdesk.com
rendezvous until a self-hosted hbbs/hbbr is deployed. See docs/ for the active worklog.
