docs: publish the docs as a site that shows a real run and every line to edit - #55
Conversation
…ll logo A strict Material build with grouped tabs, a theme cut from banner.svg, a logo and favicon extracted from the banner's mirror ball, and a Dependabot block that watches the pinned Material version.
web-mirror has no flags, so a visitor needs the four lines to edit in src/main2.py, the amd64 flag an Apple Silicon Mac needs, and what a real run writes. The home page shows that run; the README gains the screenshot, the arm64 sentence and a Documentation list pointing at the site.
… main The template workflow, with nginx/default.conf added to the push paths because usage.md includes it word for word.

📝 WalkthroughWalkthroughAdds a MkDocs Material documentation site with project guides, navigation, styling, and strict-build settings. Adds a GitHub Actions workflow to build the site on pull requests and publish it to GitHub Pages on non-PR runs, plus Dependabot updates for documentation dependencies. ChangesDocumentation site and publishing
Priority: ⬇️ Low Estimated code review effort: 3 (Moderate) | ~25 minutes Change: Other Merge Risk: 🔵 Low · up to This adds a documentation site and publishing workflow. Two guide passages could mislead readers about sitemap fetching and a disk-full diagnosis. They are small wording fixes and do not block merging. Security Architecture ReviewSecurity architecture risk: 🔵 Low · up to Pull-request builds are separated from publishing permissions, and successful validation is required before deployment. However, manual runs are not restricted to main and different branches are not serialized against the same publishing destination. Whether deployment protections prevent unintended publication remains unverified. The identified exposure is limited to the documentation site and requires permission to dispatch the workflow. - Line 29: Update docs/configuration.md at line 29 to replace the claim that the
sitemap fetch runs on every start with cache-aware wording, requiring host
connectivity only on a cache miss. Update docs/how-it-works.md at line 29 to
explain that a cached response is parsed when available and the site is
contacted on a cache miss. Update docs/troubleshooting.md at line 51 to clarify
that the shown ConnectionError can occur on a cache miss, such as a first run or
after clearing the cache.
Review comments at @docs/troubleshooting.md:
- Line 43: Update the APT troubleshooting guidance so it presents Docker disk
exhaustion as one possible cause, not a conclusion from the error signature.
Tell users to check `docker system df` before recommending image pruning or
removal.

…d on every start The left-to-right diagram shrank to 116 px tall in the text column and no label could be read; top-to-bottom renders at normal text size. The sitemap request goes through a cache with no expiry, so it only has to answer the first time; a cached 200 is reused until data/sitemap.sqlite is deleted. The apt GPG error now names a full Docker disk as the usual cause and has the reader check `docker system df` before pruning.
web-mirror has no flags and no environment variables. To use it you edit four lines in
src/main2.py, add--platform linux/amd64on an Apple Silicon Mac, and then check what a run wrote. The README said none of this about arm64, and there was no docs page to point at. This PR publishes the docs as a site at https://geiserx.github.io/web-mirror/, and the strict build fails on a broken link. What a first-time visitor gets
example.com, the two files written, and nginx serving the copy. It also covers what web-mirror saves, what it does not save, and how it runs.src/main2.pyby line number. Those constants are the only settings.ConnectionError, and the videosrcandKeyErrorcases.nginx/default.confwithpymdownx.snippets. The site can't drift from the real config, and a rename of that file fails the build.docs/images/banner.svg. The colours come from the banner too.The URL contract
The README links eight site URLs. Each one is checked against the built
site/, with a URL that must fail as the control:All eight site URLs in the README are in the contract.

The new.github/workflows/docs.ymlis the shared template withnginx/default.confadded to the push paths. It runs the strict build on every pull request and deploys the Pages artifact frommainonly. It has no gh-pages branch and needs nocontents: write. The five action SHAs were checked against their tags. A Dependabotpipblock for/docswatches the Material pin. The website field stays empty until the site answers after the merge.Deviations from the plan
