    Deploy Blocker Investigation

Causing PR: Add liquid glass bottom tab bar to iOS, Android and mWeb, not the auto-assigned Remove getReportTransactions default in getPayMoneyRequestParams (Part 8). Confidence: high, from code reading. I did not reproduce on iOS.

Root cause: On native, every tab now stays mounted and unfrozen. The Workspaces tab of a brand-new account (User B) renders an empty table in the background. Its selection effect turns off the app-wide mobile selection mode without checking focus. The focused report still has one expense selected, so it turns the mode back on. The two effects repeat forever and lock the JS thread.

Recommendation: roll forward. In selection.ts:127-140, return early when !useIsFocused() and add isFocused to the dependencies. This is the same fix proposed on Android - Spend - Unable to bulk select expense, which has the same root cause. One fix should clear both blockers. If the fix isn't ready in time, revert Add liquid glass bottom tab bar to iOS, Android and mWeb together with its CP follow-up, [CP Staging] Fix liquid glass bottom tab bar issues.

    Investigation details

Why the auto-assigned PR is not the cause: It only passes a transaction list into payMoneyRequest / payInvoice. Those values are read when the user presses Pay, not when they select an expense. Its one new hook in useHoldMenuSubmit only reads data.

    Why background tabs keep running:

    The loop:

    1. Long-press > Select turns on selection mode and selects one expense (MoneyRequestReportTransactionLongPressModal.tsx:58-63).
    2. The background Workspaces table sees selection mode on with no selectable rows, so isSelectionModeEnabledWithoutSelectableKeys turns it off (selection.ts:127-140).
    3. The focused report has one selected item with the mode off, so it turns the mode back on (useHandleSelectionMode.ts:33-34, called from useMoneyRequestReportTransactionSelection.ts:72).
    4. Steps 2 and 3 repeat forever.

On Spend, the mode is only turned back on when screen size changes, so the same bug shows as "can't select" instead of a freeze. The code path is shared with Android, so the Android app likely freezes on this flow too.

Suggested assignees: sumo-slonik (author), ZhenjaHorbach and grgia (reviewers) of the causing PR.

AI code review rule: This pattern is generalizable. A rule draft ("gate writes to the global mobile selection mode on screen focus") is already on Android - Spend - Unable to bulk select expense. This issue is more evidence for that rule, so I didn't draft a second one.

Next Steps: Reply with @MelvinBot implement this to create a draft PR, or @MelvinBot <your feedback> to refine this analysis.
