STRATA Design Documents

Design documentation for the STRATA adaptive optics software.

The design has three parts:

1. AO Software Stack: observatory integration through EPICS, sequencing, daemons and drivers, and the interface to the real-time controller.
2. Hard Real-Time Controller: a minimal deterministic core plus reusable AO components, assembled through configuration.
3. CACAO: why CACAO and ImageStreamIO are a path forward for STRATA's RTC.

Build

pip install tox
tox -e docs   # output in docs/_build/html
tox -e live   # live preview at http://127.0.0.1:8000

The GitHub Actions workflow in .github/workflows/docs.yml builds the site on every pull request and publishes it to GitHub Pages on pushes to main. To turn on publishing, go to Settings → Pages and set Source = GitHub Actions.
