A terminal thermal dashboard for Dell/Alienware laptops. On Linux it reads
temperatures and fan RPM through hwmon and controls every PWM channel exposed
by the same controller. Dell's dell_smm controller is preferred when present.
go build -o awcc .
sudo ./awccFan PWM files are normally writable only by root. Running without sudo is
safe and still shows real sensor data, but selecting a profile will display a
permission error instead of pretending that the write succeeded.
The program starts in monitoring mode. Select a profile and press Enter or Space to begin applying it to both fans. On Dell SMM hardware the available fan states are discrete, so Manual moves through Off, Medium, and Full rather than claiming unsupported fine-grained control. A temperature failsafe raises fan output at 80°C and forces full output at 85°C.
If the kernel exposes pwm*_enable, the app restores automatic BIOS control on
exit. On systems without that switch, the BIOS remains in automatic mode and
the app reinforces its requested PWM while running.
