Summary

Use the shared release foundation for this repository itself. A preparation PR updates VERSION and changelog; CI creates the annotated tag on the merged commit and publishes the matching notes.

Changes

  • Declare the current 5.0.1 version and GitHub-only output, without bumping or changing reusable workflow implementations.
  • Add immutable caller pins under separate filenames to avoid self-recursion.
  • Align preparation instructions with CI ownership and separate App activation.

Test plan

  • actionlint and shellcheck passed.
  • Release preparation shell fixtures, 32 shared Python tests and npm artifact tests passed.
  • Independent change/deep review 91a81d0..4ddddf7: no findings.
  • Initial adoption creates no tag; live activation and any actual release are separate.
