asahi-va-driver
===============

A VA-API (libva) backend driver for V4L2 stateless video decoders.

This is a fork of https://xff.cz/git/libva-v4l2_request. This version
focuses on Apple Silicon.


Using
-----

If libva does not select this driver automatically, set it explicitly:

    export LIBVA_DRIVER_NAME=asahi

Firefox decodes video in its sandboxed RDD process, and the sandbox
blocks the device access this driver needs. Launch Firefox with:

    export MOZ_DISABLE_RDD_SANDBOX=1

Note that disabling the RDD sandbox trades away some of the protection
Firefox normally applies to media decoding.


Building
--------

    meson setup build
    meson install -C build      # installs into the libva driverdir
