Accept the canonical Cloud answer route response: runId, humanWait, humanAnswer, and next.
Require exact run, wait, decision, and normalized note agreement before reporting answerRecorded: true.
Read canonical humanAnswer on retries and skip a duplicate answer POST only for the same recorded decision.
Refuse missing, competing, cross-run, cross-wait, or otherwise mismatched acknowledgements.
This changes only the SDK client and its composed route-shape tests. It does not answer or resume a live run, publish a package, or deploy Cloud.

Literal commands and captured output follow in PR comments, including revert/fail/byte-restore/pass mutation evidence.

Summary by cubic
Updates the Cloud SDK answer flow to accept the canonical answer route response shape (humanAnswer with runId, humanWait, and next receipts) and to strictly confirm acknowledgements before reporting answerRecorded: true.
Normalizes and compares notes so a retry with the same trimmed note is treated as identical.
Preserves explicit refusals: an error field or ok: false on the answer route now surfaces as an invalid response instead of being treated as a non-confirmation.
Refuses mismatched, competing, cross-run, or cross-wait acknowledgements; the legacy answer and ok: true fields are no longer accepted as confirmation.
Re-admits the persisted repository grant on resume, forwarding normalized owner/repo values and refusing to infer or widen malformed grants.

Walkthrough
The cloud-answer parser validates response identity, answer fields, and wait consistency. answerCloudFlow normalizes notes, checks existing answers against the request, and requires a submitted answer to be confirmed by the response.
Changes: Cloud answer flow
Layer / File(s)
Summary
Recorded response validation packages/sdk/src/cloud-answer.ts, packages/sdk/tests/cloud-answer.test.ts
A shared parser checks the run ID, error field, answer fields, and wait ID. Tests cover updated response shapes and invalid run, wait, and answer data.
Answer matching and submission confirmation packages/sdk/src/cloud-answer.ts, packages/sdk/tests/cloud-answer.test.ts
The flow trims notes and compares existing answers by wait ID, boolean answer, and normalized note. New submissions require a response confirming the matching wait and answer. Tests cover retries, mismatches, and malformed or conflicting responses.
No actionable issue was established in the SDK answer change; it is mergeable after normal checks.

🔴 Later human gates cannot be answered
When Cloud retains an earlier answer beside a new humanWait, readCloudHumanAnswerRecord rejects the new gate. Successive human gates then remain parked without an answer.
Learn more
The answer route can retain an answer for an earlier wait while reporting the current open wait. The preceding implementation selected the open wait and ignored the earlier decision in answerCloudFlow. Rejecting the whole response now prevents the command from answering the current gate. Keep the strict same-wait requirement for POST acknowledgements, but allow a stale recorded answer on GET and select only an answer whose wait ID matches the current gate.
Example: A run answered human-1 and now parks at human-2. GET returns humanWait.waitId: "human-2" and humanAnswer.waitId: "human-1". The command must submit an answer for human-2, but now stops before any POST.
Recommended fix: Separate GET discovery from POST acknowledgement validation. On GET, discard a recorded answer for a different wait; on POST, require the receipt's wait ID and decision to match the submitted wait.

🟡 Older whitespace notes block resume
After upgrading, retrying a recorded answer with a padded note makes sameRecordedAnswer reject the original note. The requested note is trimmed, but the recorded note is not, leaving the run parked.
Learn more
The earlier client sent options.note without trimming it, so an answer recorded before the upgrade can contain leading or trailing whitespace. This version trims the requested note before comparing it with the stored value. A retry after an answer POST succeeded but resume failed cannot continue a previously recorded decision, even when the user repeats the identical note.
Example: The old CLI posts {note: " reviewed "} and Cloud records it, but resume fails. After upgrading, flows answer --cloud <run> yes --note ' reviewed ' compares " reviewed " with "reviewed" and refuses to resume.
Recommended fix: Normalize the recorded note for comparison as well, or preserve verbatim equality as a compatibility fallback while keeping normalized notes for new answer POSTs.

### Issue 1
packages/sdk/src/cloud-answer.ts:216-219
`docs/CLOUD.md:936-944` still says only `{ ok: true }` confirms an answer and that an earlier wait’s answer does not block the current wait. This PR explicitly rejects both cases. Users diagnosing rejected answers will get the wrong guidance. Update that section and the response fields at lines 953-955 to match the new contract.
Note: If this suggestion doesn't match your team's coding style, reply to this and let me know. I'll remember it for next time!
---
For each issue above, determine whether it is valid and should be fixed. If so, fix it directly.
Summary
The SDK accepts canonical Cloud answer receipts and checks the run, wait, decision, and note before confirming an answer.
Cloud answer retries match the receipt to the exact wait and decision.
Resuming a repository-backed run keeps its stored repository request.

Mutation B removes only the malformed stored-contract refusal, runs ./node_modules/.bin/vitest run tests/cloud-answer.test.ts -t "refuses a malformed stored repository contract" --reporter=verbose, restores byte-for-byte, and reruns.

Independent signoff at exact 3d5b5fb70396d6e6faaab96b40c8ebbf662bd483. Reviewed the new repository request reconstruction against Cloud core parse/admission and the full canonical answer handling. Required host/branch/base/mode/access/workflows fields are preserved; malformed contracts refuse before writes. No blocking source finding remains.
Actual candidate CLI acceptance: it read the previously recorded approval, made zero answer POSTs and exactly one resume POST, received HTTP200, and returned child run bb11a5a5-65b4-4cac-8dcd-654be3e595fe. This proves answer/repository-resume admission, not full hosted E2E: the resumed sandbox restored prior steps and applied the human gate, then its authored secondary clone attempted to push through the old parent proxy URL. Root is fixing that test-fixture remote refresh; this does not require widening the SDK/Cloud grant.
@codex review exact3d5b5fb70396d6e6faaab96b40c8ebbf662bd483. Independent source review and54-test/typecheck/build evidence: #706 (comment) . Please review canonical answer handling and reconstruction of the persisted repository grant on resume.
A regular code review gets triggered (for example, "@codex review" or when a PR is opened), and you’re opted in so security review runs alongside code review

Live acceptance for exact SDK candidate3d5b5fb70396d6e6faaab96b40c8ebbf662bd483: hosted compatibility-source run now completed, all7steps success. Clone/Claude/verify were restored from the parked journal; the approval applied once; the scoped push and helper comment succeeded. Direct GitLab read confirms only E2E-PROOF-7.txt changed, exact marker/commit, unchanged main, exactly one comment by project bot44157508.
Boundary: this is compatibility-source plus built candidate CLI, not a published-client/original-regex-source post-deploy claim. Owner-role isolated project token; no Nabis customer mutation or Developer-role403 acceptance.

The run retained the quote-bearing regex that exposed the scanner defect; its scoped GitLab mount was present. All seven steps completed successfully, including real Claude edit, durable human approval/resume, scoped push, and helper writeback. Direct GitLab read confirms one changed proof file, one commit/comment by project bot, and unchanged main. Label addition launched in22.115s.
Scope: isolated Owner-role project-token fixture. This is not an actual Nabis tenant run, Developer-role webhook403, live group-token, or released AgentRelay-consumer claim. Consumer Relay2089 remains in review. Hosted Surface authority remained2.0.60 while the client was public SDK2.0.65.
Terminal-child retry was separately refused with exit2/invalid_input after one GET and zero POSTs; provider receipt above was read afterward and remained one comment. This is a terminal-child retry control, not a claim that every parent-resume retry path is idempotent.
Developer-role live acceptance PASS with public Flows2.0.65 and deployed Cloud parser. The fixture used a genuine project access token with Developer(access30), exact api+write_repository, and an existing Maintainer-installed project webhook. Hook-management GET403 is expected; runtime clone/push/writeback still succeeded. No Nabis/customer changes. This does not claim live group-token acceptance, mid-sync lifecycle race reproduction, or published Agent Relay consumer acceptance. Relay2089 is separately waiting for human review/merge. Hosted Surface authority was2.0.60.
Node is /Users/khaliqgant/.local/share/mise/installs/node/22.23.2/bin/node. SDK commands run from /tmp/julian-live-e2e-20261106/project with the normal Cloud CLI login (no AGENT_RELAY_HOME override). The initial SDK attempt with the workspace-only profile returned auth_missing and made no deployment; the normal-login retry below succeeded. The metadata command used the compiled normal Agent Relay CLI at /tmp/julian-relay-release-final/packages/cli/dist/cli/index.js with AGENT_RELAY_HOME=/tmp/julian-live-e2e-20261106/profile. All outputs below are captured live receipts, not mocks.

Direct provider artifacts: issue9/comment, proof commit. These are private isolated test artifacts. Terminal retry claim is specifically the completed child refusal, not all parent re-answer paths.

Outcome
runId,humanWait, humanAnswer, andnext.answerRecorded: true.humanAnsweron retries and skip a duplicate answer POST only for the same recorded decision. This changes only the SDK client and its composed route-shape tests. It does not answer or resume a live run, publish a package, or deploy Cloud.
Verification
Literal commands and captured output follow in PR comments, including revert/fail/byte-restore/pass mutation evidence.

Updates the Cloud SDK answer flow to accept the canonical answer route response shape (
humanAnswerwithrunId,humanWait, andnextreceipts) and to strictly confirm acknowledgements before reportinganswerRecorded: true.errorfield orok: falseon the answer route now surfaces as an invalid response instead of being treated as a non-confirmation.answerandok: truefields are no longer accepted as confirmation.owner/repovalues and refusing to infer or widen malformed grants.Written for commit 3d5b5fb.
