Biscuit

A sleek, native multi-tab Markdown and LaTeX editor powered by GTK4 and Libadwaita.

Features

  • Multi-Tab Interface: Seamlessly edit multiple Markdown and LaTeX documents concurrently.
  • Native GTK4 Integration: Designed strictly around Libadwaita for a beautiful, system-native aesthetic.
  • Dynamic Previews: Toggleable preview panes that live alongside your source code. Uses a WebKit6 backend and latex.js for robust, high-fidelity LaTeX rendering.
  • Offline AI Assistant: A built-in local AI engine powered by Candle and SmolLM2 (360M parameters) running entirely on CPU. Access smart features like "Ghostwrite" and "Fix Grammar".
  • Clippy Sprite: Features an interactive, dynamic paperclip sprite overlay that tracks your mouse and animates while the AI is thinking!

Installation

Debian / Ubuntu

You can download the pre-compiled .deb package directly from the GitHub Releases page!

sudo dpkg -i biscuit_0.1.0_amd64.deb

sudo apt-get install libgtk-4-dev libadwaita-1-dev libwebkitgtk-6.0-dev
npm install -g npm # Node.js is required for latex renderer
