Install button click sometimes wrongly triggers Userscript manager required modal

i was testing clicking https://scriptcat.org/en/script-show-page/6345 Install Script button repeatedly, and sometimes:

This is intentional. We added this prompt because users without a userscript manager would sometimes try to install scripts, leading to confusion or incorrect actions. We detect userscript managers through window.external, but Tampermonkey and Violentmonkey don’t currently expose a compatible API on scriptcat.org. We hope TM/VM can add support for ScriptCat; until then, you can click “Continue anyway” to install the script.

Of course, we’d be even happier if you gave ScriptCat a try. 😄

It's not intentional I'm saying Tampermonkey installs normally but onice in a while the screenshot I posted appears (which should not appear)

Do you also have ScriptCat installed? I tested with Firefox + Tampermonkey, without ScriptCat installed, and the prompt appeared consistently rather than intermittently.

Thanks. After disabling ScriptCat, did you refresh the page before testing? Scripts injected by an extension may remain active in an already-open page until it is reloaded.
To rule that out, could you close all scriptcat.org tabs after disabling ScriptCat, reopen the script page with only Tampermonkey enabled, and test it again?

I didn't actively set out to disable it, it's installed from long time ago

Yes each test followed a refresh

Can you do that? I did all I can I simply report the bug sir (also I will be converting all links to direct ones now you've shockingly revealed you are trying to force installs of your extension upon users who already have TM)

I tested and verified this on my side. When ScriptCat is installed and enabled, this dialog does not appear. When only Tampermonkey is installed, the dialog does indeed appear.

Regarding your claim that I am “trying to force ScriptCat upon Tampermonkey users,” I have already reserved a Tampermonkey-compatible integration point through window.external.Tampermonkey. However, Tampermonkey will need to add support for it on their side.

This Issue is still open because sometimes modal shows most times doesn't. Should be always don't show on any manager installed like GF does

Sorry, I may have made this confusing, or perhaps I misunderstood what you meant. Let me reorganize my explanation:

Currently, https://scriptcat.org/ only supports detecting whether the ScriptCat (SC) extension is installed. The prompt will not appear only when SC is installed and enabled.

I have reserved a detection interface for Tampermonkey (TM), but TM needs to add compatibility support for https://scriptcat.org/. Someone may need to submit a request to TM for this. For now, if only TM is installed, this prompt will appear.

Greasy Fork (GF) also displays a similar prompt when no userscript manager is installed. However, SC, TM, and Violentmonkey (VM) all support GF’s detection mechanism, so GF can detect them and will not display the prompt when one of them is installed.

It may take some time for TM and VM to add compatibility support for https://scriptcat.org/.

Unfortunately, that’s not possible. Websites cannot reliably determine which browser extensions are installed, even if the CRX ID is known. We’ll need to wait for Tampermonkey/Violentmonkey to support this.
