It would be great if you had a red alert notification explaining that the users data will be lost if you do not migrate the local only data before changing the table away form local only.

As context for the documentation effort of this, see the readme for optional sync. The demo discusses an approach of moving from a local-only table to a sync table (two distinct table names with 1 interfacing view that your application queries against). That is however different to the mentioned issue which works with a single table name.
