Last week we began migrating parts of the Planetary Computer's backend architecture to improve reliability and scalability while establishing a stronger foundation for future capabilities. Some steps in this migration require scheduled service interruptions. This week we anticipate the following interruption:
Date: Monday, September 21st at 7:00 PM UTC
Duration: Up to three hours of scheduled downtime
Impact: Planetary Computer APIs will be unavailable
We have designed the migration to minimize changes to the existing user experience. Once service is restored, we do not expect users to need to make changes to their applications or workflows.
However, if you experience issues following the migration, please open a GitHub issue and note that it began after the September 21st maintenance window. Including timestamps, endpoints, error messages, and reproducible examples will help us differentiate migration-related issues from any pre-existing conditions. Feedback and issue reports shared on GitHub help us better understand user experiences, identify service issues, and help prioritize future improvements to Planetary Computer.
Thank you for being part of the Planetary Computer community.
