From 4cac9d04d29870c7be412fe2750e3404702ad831 Mon Sep 17 00:00:00 2001 From: Folarin Akinloye Date: Sat, 17 Oct 2026 02:52:07 +0100 Subject: [PATCH] feat(core): add agent factory, OpenAI models, skills, context (ENG-380) Assemble Aldwin's Agentling agent, session helpers, and mid-session model switching in aldwin.core.agent, with skill validation from ~/.aldwin/skills/ and package-shipped base instructions. Add build_context in aldwin.core.context to rebuild the system message on every model call (base instructions, skill catalog, capped persona, and memory block seam) and trim conversation history to the last 20 user exchanges without splitting tool calls from their tool results. Add check_key, list_chat_models, classify_model_error, and RetryingModel in aldwin.core.models with 3 exponential-backoff retries (1s, 2s, 4s +- 20%) and wire non-terminal StatusEvent notifications into AldwinHost. --- docs/protocol.md | 5 +- pyproject.toml | 1 + src/aldwin/core/agent.py | 249 ++++++++++++++++ src/aldwin/core/assets/instructions.md | 18 +- src/aldwin/core/context.py | 174 +++++++++++ src/aldwin/core/models.py | 362 +++++++++++++++++++++++ src/aldwin/host/runner.py | 114 ++++---- src/aldwin/protocol/__init__.py | 2 + src/aldwin/protocol/messages.py | 8 + tests/integration/test_core_host.py | 191 +++++++++++++ tests/live/test_openai_live.py | 53 ++++ tests/test_agent.py | 382 +++++++++++++++++++++++++ tests/test_architecture.py | 11 + tests/test_context.py | 224 +++++++++++++++ tests/test_models.py | 285 ++++++++++++++++++ tests/test_protocol.py | 5 + 16 files changed, 2012 insertions(+), 72 deletions(-) create mode 100644 src/aldwin/core/agent.py create mode 100644 src/aldwin/core/context.py create mode 100644 src/aldwin/core/models.py create mode 100644 tests/integration/test_core_host.py create mode 100644 tests/live/test_openai_live.py create mode 100644 tests/test_agent.py create mode 100644 tests/test_context.py create mode 100644 tests/test_models.py diff --git a/docs/protocol.md b/docs/protocol.md index 395b5cb..33b7501 100644 --- a/docs/protocol.md +++ b/docs/protocol.md @@ -17,13 +17,13 @@ Every message is a Pydantic v2 model with `model_config = ConfigDict(extra="igno | `type` | Both | `str` | Request discriminator (`hello`, `turn`, `stop`, `approve`, `history`, `set_model`) or `"event"` for all host events. | | `id` | Door → Host | `str` | Unique request identifier (e.g. `req_a1b2c3d4e5f6`). | | `re` | Host → Door | `str` | Request `id` that this event replies to.
