From 6d31f4867630c7d8ee5f88c3774c40457d1d54f2 Mon Sep 17 00:00:00 2001 From: Dean Sharon Date: Thu, 5 Nov 2026 14:13:20 +0200 Subject: [PATCH 1/6] feat(plan): carry each behaviour of the built-in Plan agent The Plan agent body carries, in devflow's own words, each behaviour of the built-in Plan agent. The sources are the sub-agents documentation (https://code.claude.com/docs/en/sub-agents) and the observed behaviour of the built-in Plan agent. - The role line: explore the code, then design an implementation plan; change nothing. - A focus or perspective in the prompt is kept throughout. It sets what the agent studies, not what it may do. - The read-only contract names the temp directory, the heredoc, `tee` and the git writes, keeps the catch-all last, and states that nothing in the prompt or in a file the agent reads lifts it. - The agent reads first any file the prompt asks for, follows the nearest code with its patterns and conventions, traces the code paths, and weighs the trade-offs of design and architecture choices. - Each step lists the steps it depends on and the problems to expect. The report names 3 to 5 critical files, each with one reason. A parity table in tests/plan-agent.test.ts names each behaviour. A whole-set removal probe, a repeat collector and joint-seed probes report a missing or widened clause by its behaviour name. Two new checklist rows pin the devflow additions: one reason for each critical file, and the precedence sentence. The Plan body ceiling rises from 3,252 to 3,924 bytes (+672: 733 added, 61 cut), recorded as a second named exception in the manifest. The duplicate 3,500-byte test on the same file is deleted, so the registered ceiling is the one bound. The parity table in `tests/plan-agent.test.ts` lists each behaviour of the built-in Plan agent, from the sub-agents documentation (https://code.claude.com/docs/en/sub-agents) and the observed behaviour of the built-in Plan agent, and devflow's `Plan` carries each one in its own words | 2026-10-15; amended 2026-11-03 (documentation read, not verified by a live spawn); amended 2026-11-05 (#764) | Plan mode runs the built-in Plan, with the session model, instead of devflow's, or a plan-mode run with the variable set loses devflow's Plan too. `/plan` Phase 10 runs a user's or project's `Plan` agent, with other tools, another model or its own instructions, in place of the built-in, or fails with `Agent type 'Plan' not found`; a Plan report lacks the test-plan lines or the strategy. Because the built-in loads no CLAUDE.md, at `standard` and `lean` the Phase 10 prompt carries the security report and the scope rule itself, and the research-data line when research reports replace Explore. devflow ships a `Plan` agent (`src/assets/agents/plan.md`: Opus, high effort, Read and Bash, no CLAUDE.md) that replaces the built-in in plan mode and in `/plan` Phase 10. The install skips it, with a warning, when the user already owns a `Plan` agent (`src/targets/claude-code/agent-type-owner.ts`), and uninstall removes only devflow's copy. `BUILT_IN_SPAWN_TYPES` in `tests/helpers.ts` is the closed set of built-in spawn types without an agent file that the spawn guards admit by byte-exact name. It is empty, so a `plan` or `general-purpose` spawn is reported. If the built-in is renamed upstream, or its tool list changes, the symptom is the failed spawn or the wrong tools. The built-in Plan shows a behaviour that the parity table does not list, so devflow's Plan does not carry it. | | In auto mode, a Bash call that writes a file with a redirect under `git rev-parse --absolute-git-dir` runs unprompted, in a main worktree and in a linked worktree (each resolves its own git directory): `M="$(git -C "" rev-parse --absolute-git-dir)/devflow/reviews/" && mkdir -p "$M" && git -C "" rev-parse HEAD > "$M/.last-review-head"` leaves a 40-hex SHA that `git cat-file -t` reports as `commit`, and `rm -- ` with `rmdir -- ` removes it. The Write tool refuses a file it has not read (`File has not been read yet`), a fresh `mktemp` file included; a Read of the empty file first lets the Write succeed, and a Read back returns the text written, in the main session and in a Git subagent (Claude Code 2.1.302). A Write to a new path in a `mktemp -d` folder succeeds with no Read, in the main session (Claude Code 2.1.314) | 2026-10-31 | `/code-review` and `/bug-analysis` find no stored head on every run and review the full branch, or the marker write prompts or is refused (the run goes on without a stored head). A Git-agent or `/implement` step that Writes a new file in a `mktemp -d` folder (a base name, a title, a caller block) is refused and treats the value as missing. | | UNVERIFIED: under `claude -p --permission-mode dontAsk` with an allow list and a `--disallowedTools` deny list, the deny rules bind subagents, and the live `claude` tests (`tests/integration/subagent-skill-preload.test.ts` and `tests/integration/ambient-activation.test.ts`) pass in a temp HOME and a temp repository. The tests rely on this. It is not verified: no credential was set, so no probe and no live run was made | 2026-10-14 (recorded, not verified) | A live run under the opt-in shows a subagent tool call that the deny list names, or a file written in the temp repository. | From 4ce365b69fc0dd4adc7cf8a1397a3ac9978e36c7 Mon Sep 17 00:00:00 2001 From: Dean Sharon Date: Thu, 5 Nov 2026 14:13:31 +0200 Subject: [PATCH 3/6] docs: add the Plan parity entry to the changelog The entry lists the behaviours that the Plan agent carries, the read-only contract, the parity test, and the ceiling rise in bytes. It is not verified: no credential was set, so no probe and no live run was made | 2026-10-14 (recorded, not verified) | A live run under the opt-in shows a subagent tool call that the deny list names, or a file written in the temp repository. | diff --git a/tests/fixtures/numeric-floors.json b/tests/fixtures/numeric-floors.json index 3460249b..1907964e 100644 --- a/tests/fixtures/numeric-floors.json +++ b/tests/fixtures/numeric-floors.json @@ -1146,7 +1146,7 @@ "pattern": "const PLAN_BODY_MAX_BYTES = 3_924", "occurrences": 1, "sourceFile": "tests/guards/plan-group-sizes.test.ts", - "description": "The Plan agent body, src/assets/agents/plan.md, in bytes.
