Public source was audited; hardware qualification remains board-specific. Initial T8132 platform descriptions exist for the board IDs listed below. They do not establish broad laptop/desktop support.
Refreshed October 16, 2026. Public PR states, follow-up reports, merge destinations and source were checked. This is an evidence update, not a new physical test. Baseline: linux/aurora-wip@f53454ba0da1; bootloader: m1n1/aurora-wip@f3ac615eb137.

⚪ No named-board Aurora boot or SMP result found in the reviewed PRs.
The Pro/Max boards still lack matching Linux DTS targets. J616S has bootloader-proxy evidence and RAM-only Linux boot evidence from open PRs, described below; sibling boards do not inherit it.
Latest assessment · October 16, 2026
J616S runs Linux from RAM on one CPU (open linux #231, open m1n1 #20). It reaches a BusyBox shell under m1n1's hypervisor and, natively, the scheduler, framebuffer console and initramfs PID 1. There is no enabled T6040/J616S DTS, no SMP and no persistent install; the native USB results are diagnostic only.
Audio over the m1n1 proxy: headphone output and all six speakers are now individually audible, user-confirmed. The development references are merged as alsa-ucm-conf-asahi #2 and asahi-audio #3 (docs only, no installed card config). Simultaneous six-speaker playback, continuous audio and speaker protection remain unqualified.
SuperSpeed USB is not working yet: RAM diagnostics reach a running controller but the link stays in SS_DISABLED or Polling, while the same port, cable and host negotiate 10 Gb/s under macOS.
J616S bring-up · open PRs, separate from supported Linux
Open draft m1n1 #20 and open linux #231 both identify Mac16,7 / J616s / T6040. Every result below is RAM-only with watchdog recovery to the installed m1n1; installed images, boot policy and storage were preserved.
Subsystem
Reported result
Boundary
CPU / memory
All 14 CPUs including 13 secondaries over the m1n1 proxy; MMU/MPIDR and concurrent atomic checks; MCC topology with all 16 way-count words validated
Clock control limited to tested states 1/2; a diagnostic state-3 request failed. Linux itself has run on CPU 0 only
Linux boot
linux #231: the exact PR image booted 7.1.12+ under the m1n1 hypervisor to a BusyBox shell on CPU 0, with config hash matched, timer IRQ 27→1280 in five seconds, zero interrupt errors and only RAM/pseudo filesystems mounted. Natively on CPU 0, RAM-only Linux reaches the scheduler, framebuffer console and initramfs PID 1
One CPU, 64 MiB RAM-only DT that excludes USB, audio, ISP, DCP and Wi-Fi consumers; no enabled production DTS in the PR
USB (high speed)
Diagnostic native kernels returned fresh-nonce root commands over physical 480 Mb/s ACM bulk traffic in three trials, using both USB DART banks
ACM notifications suppressed; normal ACM, a sustained shell and ECM failed or remain unqualified; the cause is unresolved
USB (SuperSpeed)
Controller runs, but the link stays in SS_DISABLED, or in Polling after a power-down-scale change; the macOS reference negotiates 10 Gb/s on the same port
Unqualified; PHY link training is the open boundary
Watchdog
Linux Apple watchdog bound to the primary unit; three trials recovered autonomously after owner kill, host-heartbeat loss and a 20-second hard deadline
Recovery path only; not a production shell
Input
Cold SIO/MTP startup over the proxy; keyboard, multitouch, haptic clicks and lid angle
Proxy execution; no Linux input pass
Audio
Proxy microphone and headset capture; headphone output (two-second left/right tone) and every one of the six speakers individually audible, user-confirmed
A paired five-second woofer test hit an I²C timeout during amp shutdown; duplex, continuous and simultaneous all-speaker playback, feedback and calibration unqualified. Linux jack inspection registers no PCM
ISP
1280×720 P010 runs, including an 80-frame ring wrap; one 1920×1080 frame
Intermittent ISP stalls remain. Linux ISP selection for T6040 returns -EOPNOTSUPP (gated)
These are reports in open PRs; some capture orchestration remains unpublished, and no firmware, recordings or calibration are reproduced here. This does not mark M4 Pro Linux audio, camera, USB or SMP as supported, and J614S/J614C/J616C do not inherit any of it.
