# Default-user routing note

This file is a sanitized public template for root `user.instruct`.
The live root file should be free text that points Cortex at the default
user profile under `users/<user>/<user>.instruct`.

Example:

The default user of this Cortex checkout is <your-user>. User-specific
durable instructions live in `users/<your-user>/<your-user>.instruct`.

Keep private contact identifiers and user-specific preferences in the
per-user file, not in root `user.instruct`.
