# Default-environment routing note

This file is a sanitized public template for root `environment.instruct`.
The live root file should be free text that points Cortex at the default
environment profile under `environments/<env>/<env>.instruct`.

Example:

The default environment of this Cortex checkout is <your-env>.
Environment-specific durable instructions live in
`environments/<your-env>/<your-env>.instruct`.

Keep private hostnames, backup roots, remotes, and deployment-specific
paths in the environment directory, not in generic framework files.
