🔍 Problem Statement

Description

Introduce a background job system for operations that should not block API requests. This ensures scalability, reliability, and smooth user experience when handling blockchain-related tasks.


Jobs

  • Blockchain transaction monitoring — track confirmations and status updates asynchronously.
  • Notification processing — send real-time alerts without blocking API calls.
  • Contract synchronization — keep off-chain database in sync with on-chain state.
  • Deadline checks — monitor contract/milestone deadlines and trigger events.

Tasks

  • Implement job queue system (e.g., BullMQ, Celery, or custom worker pool).
  • Define job lifecycle — queued → processing → completed → failed.
  • Add retry mechanism — automatically retry failed jobs with exponential backoff.
  • Prevent duplicate processing — enforce idempotency checks for queued jobs.
  • Track job status — expose API/DB records for monitoring job progress.
  • Error logging — capture and store errors for debugging and alerting.
  • Scalability support — allow horizontal scaling of workers.

Acceptance Criteria

  • Retry failed jobs — jobs automatically retried with configurable limits.
  • Prevent duplicate processing — same job cannot be executed twice.
  • Job status tracking — developers can query job state (pending, running, failed, completed).
  • Error logging included — failures are recorded with stack trace and metadata.
  • Non-blocking API requests — blockchain operations run asynchronously in background.
  • Scalable architecture — queue can handle high throughput reliably.
