[a21s] Low input gain on main microphone in third-party applications #308

Description

@usuariodegithu

Device Codename

a21s

LineageOS Version

23.2-20260714-NIGHTLY-a21s

Build Date

2026-07-13

Kernel Version

4.19.325-gdf3478262680 #1 SMP PREEMPT Tue Jul 14 02:25:34 UTC 2026 aarch64 Toybox

Baseband Version

A217MUBSCDXF2

System Modifications

Magisk, Play Integrity Fix, ReZygisk, Tricky Store, Yurikey Manager, NikGapps-basic. Note: Verified reproducible on clean build.

Expected Behavior

The main microphone should record audio with clear and audible gain at a standard usage distance (20-30 cm) in all applications, allowing normal communication without the need to bring the mouth directly to the device.

Current Behavior

In third-party apps (WhatsApp, Instagram), the recorded audio is extremely low or inaudible unless the mouth is placed directly on the main microphone (distance < 5 cm). However, the microphone works correctly with proper gain in Google services/Gemini, suggesting an inconsistency in audio routing or gain configuration for third-party apps.

Possible Solution

No response

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Open Google Assistant or Gemini and perform a voice query. Audio input is captured with normal gain.
  2. Open WhatsApp, Instagram, or the native recorder app.
  3. Perform a voice recording while holding the device at a standard usage distance (approx. 20-30 cm).
  4. Play back the recording. The gain is extremely low, making the audio inaudible.
